Samsung's Android phone hitting Sprint and T-Mobile by June

Touchscreen Android likely to be one of many

Well, a glut of new companies have signed up to the Open Handset alliance, most wasting no time in getting new product out there. Like Samsung for example.

The company has confirmed it is working hard at developing an Android handset for a launch around June 2009. Right now, it's only been confirmed for a US network launch (Sprint and possibly T-Mobile), with a team of 80 developers working frantically to get the phone finished on time. Obviously if it's getting a US launch, we can assume this is heading to the UK too. Why waste all that development time for a limited launch?

The phone itself doesn't look too inspiring so far, said to be a new, but sleeker take on the existing Omnia. Hopefully with an improved screen - that was the one big drawback
when we got hands-on earlier this year. Don't be surprised to see a prototype of this (and many other Androids) being flashed around the forthcoming CES, which we'll be covering of course.
